Treble
Suffers Red Light Loss in Atlanta.
|
May 16, 2004
Atlanta, Event
Wrap-up:
With many of the performance based questions
seemingly answered on the Matco Tools Suzuki, Craig Treble
found trouble on the Starting line at the Summit Racing
Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac, fouling out
of competition in round one after a -005 red light start.
"We really
believed we could run with nearly every Pro Stock Bike here in
Atlanta. Our elapsed times were good, and we figured we knew
what to change on the bike to get it where we wanted it for
eliminations. We were ready to race," Treble said.
The red light
start was both maddening and confusing for the Matco Tools
Suzuki rider, who recorded consistent reaction times during
qualifying. "I thought I went to the starting line plenty safe
after four .02 lights on Friday and Saturday. I used my normal
first round setup, but I still ended up with a foul,"
explained Treble. "I must have been too anxious."
Putting the
Atlanta race behind them will come quick as the Matco Tools
team is already preparing for the upcoming NHRA POWERade race
in Chicago next weekend. "We have some work to do this week,
but I will show up in Chicago as hungry as ever for a win,"
stated Treble. |

Treble Improves
In Saturday Qualifying.
|
May 15, 2004
Atlanta, Saturday Pit Note:
Craig Treble rode the Matco Tools
Suzuki into the No. 7 spot on the Pro Stock Bike qualifying
ladder, running a 7.193 @ 189.71 mph.
The late
Saturday qualifying run is the quickest of the weekend from
the Matco Tools bike, something that gives the team confidence
as they head into Sunday morning eliminations at the Summit
Racing Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac.
"Our bike
has been moving in the right direction all weekend, and our
two Saturday passes have us happy and confident," Explained
Treble. "Our runs today were consistent and we know now that
we are moving in the right direction with our tune-up on this
bike."
The Matco
Tools Suzuki will face Fred Collis in round one of Pro Stock
Bike eliminations Sunday morning at Atlanta Dragway. |

Treble
7th In Friday Qualifying In Atlanta..
|
May 14, 2004 Atlanta, Friday Pit Note:
On the
strength of a 7.253 qualifying run at 188.62 mph, Craig Treble put the
Matco Tools Suzuki in the top half of the Pro Stock Bike field at the
Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac.
'We ran some high mph on that pass which tells
us this bike has more in it. A few adjustments tonight and we can
hopefully climb up the qualifying ladder a few more spots tomorrow." Said
Treble.
"We have been trying what others think is some
strange stuff with our new chassis, and it is finally responding the way
we want it to, I think this new bike is finally coming around"
The Matco Tools Bike currently sits in the No.
7 position, just .091 of a second behind No. 1 qualifier Andrew Hines.

Treble Confident In Return To Atlanta.
|
May 13, 2004
Atlanta, pre-race:
The NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycles return to
action this weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment
Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac, and even before a
single run has been made, Craig Treble will tell you that for
the Matco Tools team, the 2004 version will most assuredly be
better than the '03 trip to Atlanta Dragway.
"It was definitely
the low point of last season", commented Treble, referring to
his only DNQ suffered during his professional career. "We
stared '03 strong, and finished strong, but the Atlanta race
was one to forget."
The team prepared
for their return to Georgia by doing some pre race testing at
another NHRA National Event racetrack, Memphis Motorsports
Park.
"We made some good
passes in Memphis, now we just need to convert those runs to
something we can use during a race. If I got points for
testing, I'd be No. 1 in POWERade points right now"
Although Treble
and the Matco Tools team will be running the Kosman Racing
chassis they debuted last season, they are still searching for
the combination that will demonstrate the bikes still unproven
potential.
"We tried some
trick stuff on this frame, and I know it will fly, but it is
still a relatively new piece. Hopefully, this bike and Atlanta
Dragway will fit together perfectly"
