Gainesville,
FL – Monday Test Session: The Matco Tools team wasted no time
uncovering the problem that plagued the team during the last
two weeks. Staring with a complete rewiring of the bike, then
replacing nearly every electrical component, the problem that
was keeping the bike from running at it's potential was
apparently found and repaired.
"We went over everything
electrical and I believe we fixed our problem. Our runs today
were more like what we thought we should have been running
during the Gatornationals event, today it hauled just like it
should." remarked Treble.
The Matco Tools team is off to
the NHRA Division 4 race in Memphis, Tennessee, which will
feature a
special Pro Stock Bike race as well as the Kerker
Sportsman Motorcycle Series.
Gainesville,
FL – Sunday Post Race: After a string of 7.22 runs from the
Matco Tools Pro Stock Bike, Craig Treble approached Sunday
morning eliminations with a positive attitude, and an
uncooperative motorcycle. "We tested in Bradenton and had a
similar problem. The bike is not responding to our changes
like we think it should. Something is holding it back and our
guess is that it is electrical, we just need to find it."
commented Treble.
A round one match against Mike
Berry produced another frustrating run, a 7.249 / 184.50,
giving Berry the win by only .009 "We defiantly have an
electrical gremlin loose on the Matco Tools Bike. We are going
to stay here and test on Monday and figure out the problem"
stated Treble.
The Gainesville event finished
with both Vance & Hines Harley Davidson V-rod bikes in the Pro
Stock Bike final. Andrew Hines, who had qualified #1 with a
track record 7.097 / 189.43, picked up his first race win for
himself, and the first NHRA Pro Stock Bike win for Harley
Davidson. "I think the Harley win was great. I'm happy for
Andrew, Byron and everyone else involved at Vance & Hines
Racing. I hope to be on one myself as soon as I can find the
funding" replied Treble.
Gainesville,
FL – Thursday Pre Race: Craig Treble will enter this weekend’s
35th annual Mac Tools Gatornationals hoping to start this
season the way he ended the last, winning the NHRA POWERade
Pro Stock Bike event title.
“We finished very strong last year, and with the adjustments
and changes made in the off-season, we hope to be in the
front of the pack in Gainesville”, said Treble
The team will
return to Gainesville Raceway with a new eagle-themed paint
scheme honoring Matco Tools' 25th anniversary. “I am really
happy to be associated with Matco Tools this year, and feel
privileged to help celebrate their 25th anniversary,”
explained Treble
Craig Treble
will again be relying on Vance & Hines horsepower for his
Suzuki; something Craig says makes him feel confident and
comfortable. “I have always run Vance & Hines engines, and I
have a great relationship with the whole group over there.”
“Also in the
off-season, the decision was made to go back to our earlier
’03 Kosman chassis, and with the help of Bobby Shahan we made
some revisions that should put us where we need to be in terms
of consistency and performance”.
The Matco
Tools team has been out testing the updated chassis, producing
runs that the team views as exciting. “The bike made nice,
straight, clean runs, and yielded some terrific 60 foot
numbers. We are ready to go racing”, remarked Craig.
