Race 2 0f 15 / NHRA
O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals
Houston, TX. / March
31 2006
Houston, TX. March
31st - April 2nd, 2006
For the
second time in as many races, the Lartigue/Treble
team was hot out of the trailer, qualified well, and
then finished on the bad end of the tightest race in
the opening session.
“It’s a
bad trend to start at the beginning of the season,
but so far we have lost two very close races,” said
Treble. “Our total combined losses amount to .011 of
a second. We have been beat, but not by much.”
Things
started on a much different note for the
Lartigue/Treble team in Houston, laying down quick
fast runs, and showing consistency throughout all
four qualifying sessions.
“We
proved to ourselves that the baseline tune-up we’re
using is solid,” said Treble. “The consistency
during the four qualifying sessions earned us the
Full Throttle Pit Crew Challenge award.”
Heading
into final eliminations, Treble was determined to
let it fly on the starting line in Houston, and told
team leader Lartigue that it was time to start
shooting for "teen" and "twenty" reaction times.
“I knew
that racing Shawn Gann first round would be tough,
so I planned on not giving up anything on the
starting line. My job was to focus and cut a good
light.”
In the
round one match, Treble was up to the task and left
first, .014 to .024, and lead until half track until
Gann’s Race Girl Suzuki went around and took the
stripe first by .008 seconds.
“The
bike worked well in the first half of the track, but
fell off considerably on the back half,” said
Treble. “We now know the Sunday weather change was a
factor, and we will add that information to our
database so hopefully it will help us at the next
race.”
The
Lartigue / Treble team now heads to
the next NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle event,
The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals
at Atlanta, GA., May 04 - 07 2006.
