Race 3 0f 15 /
Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals
Atlanta, Ga. / May 07 2006
Atlanta, Ga. May 04th - May 07th, 2006
Following
a second round exit at the 26th annual Summit Racing
Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals, Craig Treble
stated optimistically "We're headed in the right
direction.
The
whole NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class is extremely
tight right now, and there is no reason to believe
it will get any easier as the season unfolds".
The
Lartigue / Treble team showed their years of
experience early in Atlanta, posting a great 7.113 /
188.28 in the Friday evening qualifying session,
good for the No. 2 qualifying position.
"We had
a run in each lane, and the hit on the right side
ended up putting us near the top of the sheet." Said
Treble.
Saturday's two qualifying sessions mirrored the
results from Friday, a decent run in the left lane,
and a near best-of-session run in the right.
"Harry
has the bike set-up great and we are making the runs
we need to make when we get in the right lane." Said
Treble. "The trick in eliminations will be to try
and hold on to lane choice, which means running fast
every lap on Sunday".
In
round one of final eliminations in Atlanta, the
Lartigue / Treble bike faced Matt Guidera on the
Rocklin Motorsports Buell. With Treble in the
favored right lane, Guidera left too soon, fouling
out of the race due to a Red Light start.
The
Lartigue / Treble motorcycle ran a 7.082 188.86,
which was a best of the weekend up to this point.
"We laid
down a terrific number in that round, but the bad
news is that we face Antron Brown next, and he has
lane choice." Said Treble.
The
Treble / Brown race was as good as they get, with
Treble taking a slight lead off the starting line
with a .022 to .024 reaction time advantage.
But it
was the better run in the better lane that
ultimately took the finish line with Brown running a
winning 7.065 / 188.81, to Treble's game but losing
7.106 / 188.44
"We had
a great run considering the lane we were in". Said
Treble. "I said earlier that Harry had a tune-up
that would work here and it showed during both our
runs on Sunday. Of the eight bikes that ran that
second session of eliminations, we were third
quickest. That shows us that we should be able to
hang with everyone on raceday."
The
Lartigue / Treble team now heads to
the next NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle event,
The Pontiac Performance NHRA Nationals at Columbus,
OH.,
May 18 - 21 2006.
