Race 9
0f 15 / Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals
Sonoma, CA / July 28-30 2006
Sonoma, CA - July 28-30 2006
Craig
Treble rode to a semi final finish in the fastest
field in NHRA history at the Fram Autolite NHRA
Nationals in Sonoma, CA.
For the
first time ever, the Pro Stock Motorcycle field
featured 4 bikes qualified in the 6-second zone,
something many thought might happen on a
historically quick racetrack.
“Sonoma
has always been a good place to run fast and set
records,” said Treble.
As has
been the case all season, the Lartigue / Treble team
started strong and were consistent throughout
qualifying Friday and Saturday.
“We
were in the 7.0 range every run in qualifying,” said
Treble. “Our 7.032 run late Saturday was a near
career best elapsed time. Harry has the hang of this
bike and has it set-up fast.”
Treble
opened elimination Sunday morning with wins over
Ryan Schnitz, who was perfect on the tree, and
Andrew Hines, with Treble again running 7.0’s to win
both rounds.
Facing
Chip Ellis in the semi finals, the Lartigue / Treble
bike slipped to a 7.139 at 187.29 mph, losing the
round by a scant 0.0062 seconds. The Treble bike was
actually faster than the Ellis ride in the race, but
it was the difference in reaction time that turned
on the win light for the Drag Specialties/ G2 Buell.
“I had
a pretty good handle on the lights this weekend, so
I wont hang my head after a .034 reaction time,”
said Treble. “I was .000 against Angelle in
qualifying, and .009 against Andrew in round two. We
took some freeplay out of the clutch because those
.00 lights will get you in trouble eventually.”
The
Lartigue / Treble team will test in St Louis prior
to heading to Brainerd for the Lucas Oil NHRA
Nationals in Brainerd, MN, August 10 – 13 2006.
